Psoriasis - Who is Affected

Psoriasis affects approximately 2% of the world's population1,2 - that's around 125 million people.

Plaque psoriasis is the most common form, accounting for 80-95% of cases.1,3 It is characterised by thick and extensive skin lesions, called plaques that cause the itching, scaling and pain.1,4

Prevalence of mild, moderate and severe psoriasis5

Psoriasis severity

The severity of psoriasis reflects the percent of body surface area affected, the location of lesions, plus other factors such as the effect of psoriasis on the patient's quality of life and ability to function.

According to the National Psoriasis Foundation, more than one third of people with plaque psoriasis suffer from its moderate-to-severe form, which can be difficult to treat.5-7
